Wealthy Americans are shopping for a range of goods online, says survey

The American Association of Advertising Agencies’ 2009 Mendelsohn Affluent Survey says 61% of Americans in households that earn more than $100,000 have visited an online retail site in the past 30 days. That percentage jumps to 63% for those in households that earn more than $250,000.
In fact, online retail sites are the second-most visited web site category among those wealthy consumers, behind only search web sites (70%), and ahead of categories such as social networks (58%), general news (56%) and entertainment sites (45%).

Alibaba expects improved profit in 2010

Alibaba.com, China's largest e-commerce company, announced on Tuesday that it expects profit to grow next year as China's foreign trade levels improve.
The company was confident that its 2010 profit would beat this year's levels, said Alibaba CEO David Wei, speaking to reporters in Hong Kong. He added that Alibaba's 2009 profit would exceed the market's consensus.
Alibaba hoped to find new investment opportunities next year, said Wei, without giving details.

Video games retailer Game topped the list with a score of 67 %, with clothing storeRiver Island finishing last, due to compulsory downloading of specific flash files. John Lewis (60 %) and Amazon (53 %) complete the top three whilst next highest are Apple, ebuyer and Littlewoods, all with 47 %.
