The country attracted our attention today is Tanzania located in central East Africa. The country is bordered by Kenya and Uganda to the north, Rwanda, Burundi and the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the west, and Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique to the south. Actually, Tanzania is one of the poorest countries in the world, being deprived its natural wealth and resources and totally dependent on help from the rest of the world.

African countries have the safest Internet in the world

According to a report by the Internet security firm AVG 7 of the 10 safest countries in which to use the Internet are in Africa, with Sierra Leone rated the safest. Researchers of the security vendor made up a list of virus and malware attacks by country picked up by AVG security software, with data from more than 127 million computers in 144 countries to determine incidence rates of such attacks. Average incident rate for Sierra Leone was one attack for every 692 Web surfers.

Sierra Leone was followed by Niger with one in every 442 surfers likely to be attacked while online.

We are to consider today Internet and e-commerce industry of one of the Arabic countries, located in Western Asia, Iraq. This Muslim country is spanning most of the northwestern end of the Zagros mountain range, the eastern part of the Syrian Desert and the northern part of the Arabian Desert. Iraq is bordered by Jordan to the west, Syria to the northwest, Turkey to the north, Iran to the east, and Kuwait and Saudi Arabia to the south. North Korea opens Twitter account, US government expresses its content

North Korean move to join Twitter was welcomed by the US government who also called upon the insular nation to let its citizens also see the recently opened account and access the web at all.

"We use Twitter to connect, to inform, and to debate. We welcome North Korea to Twitter and the networked world," wrote Philip Crowley, a state department spokesman on his Twitter account.

Free Press, ColorofChange.org, Credo Action, MoveOn.org and the Progressive Change Campaign Committee will go on a rally to protest a recent proposal by Google and Verizon Communications at Google's headquarters in Mountain View, California, Friday.

The organizers of the rally hope to convince Google, which has long voiced support for net neutrality, to abandon the joint proposal with Verizon. Critics of the Google/Verizon net neutrality proposal have called it a weak alternative to other efforts aiming to prohibit broadband providers from selectively blocking Web traffic.

Apple becomes the most hated brand on the Internet, the #fail

Apple has become the most hated trademark on the Internet as reported by a new study released by the social media analyst firm Brandwatch.

Brandwatch found that now Apple is the brand that is most commonly associated with the term #fail. That hashtag first originated on Twitter, but has since spread throughout the Internet to become a general term of derision and criticism.

Brandwatch found more use of that hashtag for Apple and its products than any other company. According to the Economic Times the report found:

Internet users are sure spying online is acceptable

63% of web users believe it is acceptable for their country to spy on other sates using malware or hacking tools, reports the new study from a security company Sophos. The firm’s 2010 mid-year Security Threat Report shows that 49% of users think denial-of-service (DoS) attack on another country to bring down their financial or communications services is okay during wartime, while seven percent admitted they think it's okay to carry out a DoS attack against another nation at any time.

AOL posts $1 billion loss but says it is "getting healthier every day"

AOL posted a massive quarterly loss, having swallowed a Q2 goodwill impairment charge related to its sell-off of Bebo. To make things worse the company also reported that its advertising revenue dropped by 27% in the quarter ended June 30. In the same period a year earlier AOL pulled in $355.7m.

Overall revenues declined 26% to $584.1m during the quarter.

The loss reported by AOL made up $1.6bn, or $9.89 a share, compared with a profit of $90.7m or 86 cents a share in its 2009 Q2. AOL was also hit with a goodwill impairment charge of $1.4bn during the quarter.
