Saturday, a lot of shoppers came back to malls searching for doorbuster deals, next year's Christmas gifts and, for most, gifts for themselves.

Christmas is a holiday, when everyone is waiting for a miracle. And everyone wants to get something very special or unordinary. It’s well known that the best gift can only be the gift you’d like to get by yourself. However, it works not in any case. CommSec economist Savanth Sebastian said consumers were not prepared to spend beyond their means and take on additional debt, even with Christmas approaching.
"They are happy to use cash, they are happy to use debit cards, they certainly do not want to use credit cards," Mr Sebastian said. "It will be a trend that will remain in force until next year.” |
