Japanese companies target China's online shopping

China's online shopping sales in 2009 are expected to reach 238.8 billion yuan, while in 2012 the figure is expected to hit 791 billion yuan, according to a report form Japan's Kyodo News.
As of the end of 2008, the number of Chinese netizens has surpassed the U.S. totaling 298 million people, ranking the first in the world. And the scale of e-commerce has reached 2.4 trillion yuan.
So Japanese businesses have begun to turn their eyes to China, and the rapid development of online shopping in China is considered as the key to opening the Chinese market.

Four Seasons Group continues acquisition strategy

Four Seasons Group (FSG), the specialist air conditioning building services group, has acquired JCW Ltd for an undisclosed sum. JCW is a successful heating, ventilation and air conditioning business operating in the UK, from the South West across to Cambridgeshire.
The acquisition of JCW adds a further £12 million of revenue resulting in combined proforma revenue for the Group in excess of £25 million. This places Four Seasons Group as one of the largest air conditioning led building services Groups in the UK.

Recession fails to crush obstinacy of American businesses who believe in success

A recent national survey from ThomasNet shows that businesses are very optimistic about their growth and their ability to survive through the recession in spite of all the challenges they face in the current tough environment when customers’ are increasingly reducing their spending.

The survey polled 800 executives, managers and engineers from small, midsize and large companies. 79% of the respondents said that they believe the US economy will improve by the second quarter of 2010 or sooner with 35% expecting their business to grow by the year end.

A new report released by the Kauffman Foundation revealed that those startups who rely heavily on their credit cards are more likely to fail at their first year of existence. The research shows that every $1,000 of credit card debt increases the probability that a new firm will close by 2.2%. 59% of the businesses in the survey had no employees when they were founded, and only 18% had three or more, so this applies mainly to microbusinesses.
