Recompense program of eBay

eBay goes further in asserting that the sellers and buyers operating on the site are distinguished with trust worthiness. The auction is even going to pay money to support this claim.

Now in case of transaction problems eBay will indemnify its customers, be it a seller or a buyer, for their losses if, of course, they use eBay’s PayPal payment service. Thus, a buyer will be reimbursed if he receives an item that was misrepresented or if he receives no item at all. If, for instance, a piece of clothing of an outstanding brand turns out a counterfeit, eBay will refund the buyer.

“We’re combining the power of eBay and PayPal to give all buyers and sellers more confidence and trust,” said Lorrie Norrington, eBay’s president of Marketplace Operations in a statement. “Buyers who pay with PayPal on eBay will be covered, with no limits, on most transactions.”

As for the sellers, they are less lucky. The reimbursement measures for them are not as advantageous and abundant. The sellers will be assigned some amount as a refund when a customer stops payment, alleging the item was not received only after having proved the fact of shipment. In addition, if stolen accounts or credit cards were used to purchase items, sellers are also to be compensated by eBay. But if a buyer claims that the item was substantially different than advertised, a recompense on the part of eBay is impossible.

However, sellers may get additional incentives provided that the purchases satisfy customers 100 percent. Therefore, the best Powersellers are going to receive 20 percent off the fees that eBay charges on a completed transaction.
