Dollar bank, a $5.5 billion federally chartered mutual savings bank, offering a wide range of financial services to individuals and businesses in the Pittsburgh, PA and Cleveland, OH markets, is launching mobile banking services for Pittsburg customers.

A customer should have a web-enabled browser on its mobile phone and by going to dollarbank.com and selecting Mobile Online Banking he may check his balances, transfer funds and pay his bills just as he would on his computer. In case a customer needs to withdraw any amount of cash, he may go to the closest Dollar Bank branch or find one of several hundred nearby surcharge-free ATMs. Because the information is encrypted a customer has the same security level as he does when banking online with Dollar Bank.

The first service of the kind was introduced by the bank in the early 1970s. The service was called Pay-By-Phone telephone banking. Later Online Banking service appeared in 1997 which brought awards to Dollar Bank. In summer 2007 the bank launched text message banking allowing Online Banking customers to check balances and make transfers from their cell phones. "Our customers love the convenience of text banking," said Pam Dancisin, Dollar Bank's VP Marketing, "so Mobile Online Banking was the next logical step."

"With over 250 million cell phone subscribers in the US, more and more customers want to be able to use their phones for banking services. Dollar Bank remains committed to using technology to help our customers conveniently do their banking safely and securely," added Ms. Dancisin.
