All the spectators who attentively observed this case now can rejoice over the end of the story. At last popular auction giant is worn out and tired of its staking out claims for making the PayPal service to be the only one acceptable payment option on its online auction site.
The company states that it has withdrawn its notification to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) about removing other payment methods from the site handed in as we know to the ACCC under the pretence of increasing security for buyers on the site.
Unfortunately for eBay the company’s ‘lofty aspirations’ met strong resistance on the part of immediately formed coalition represented by the Australian Bankers Association and The Reserve Bank which went on lodging submissions with the ACCC in an attempt to stop the rule change.
After the draft notice from the ACCC proposing to revoke the notification lodged by eBay and delay implementation of the plan until the ACCC makes a final decision the auction made a statement that the move is to be postponed until 15 July but the ACCC draft notice will be challenged.
Yet, the latest announcements from eBay show that the notification is not fated to come true. eBay intends to "stop any further confusion and disruption among the eBay community" and allow customers to use all existing payments methods.
Still, the introduction of a rule to make all sellers offer PayPal as one of their payments option is not to be cancelled by eBay.
