JPMorgan Chase appoints Sen. Martinez as chairman of the bank

Yesterday JPMorgan Chase & Co. has announced the head of Chase Bank's Florida market and its operations in Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. According to the official statement the seat is now occupied by former U.S. Sen. Mel Martinez from Florida who left the Senate last year after 5 years of work.

“Mel has been a business and civic leader and a role model in Florida for decades. He has served the people of Florida well at both the local and national level and now he will help JPMorgan Chase continue our expansion to serve the consumers, businesses and communities of Florida and the region,'' commented Jamie Dimon, CEO of JPMorgan Chase.

Currently JP Morgan Chase has 140 branches and 3,000 employees in Florida. The bank also plans to open 100 more branches in the nearest future.
