February 2009 data from comScore Media Metrix showed that MediaGlow, AOL’s publishing division has been reported to have seen a record high traffic on February 1, when the page views had climbed 21% against last year’s results and reached 5.7 billion, and total minutes spent by users on the site increased 22% to reach 4.2 billion. Moreover, a recent report from Nielsen Online stated that the amount of time AOL users spent on its sites or applications hit its peak in February 2009, exceeding three hours and forty-five minutes.
AOL had formed MediaGlow in January, with the aim of centralizing AOL’s publishing sites and expanding AOL’s efforts to reach targeted audiences globally. MediaGlow plans to launch 30 targeted sites this year.
Bill Wilson, President of MediaGlow commented on the results by saying, “Our brands are focused on creating original and innovative content in areas that have strong and loyal followings and target consumer passion points. This helps our advertising partners reach a highly engaged and receptive audience across a wide range of brand offerings.”
The growth of AOL.com in page views increased by 5%, unique visitors - 6% and total minutes - 32% comparing to the previous year. February data of comScore Media Metrix said, AOL News also had a record month, with its audience reaching largest, over 30.7 million unique visitors, the site also recorded 48% increase in page views, 19% increase in total minutes and 18% increase in unique visitors. AOL Music has become Web’s most visited online music destination, with its monthly visitors exceeding 22.2 million (a 7% increase from last year), according to the same source.
