America's largest
online retailers made a
report on their bestselling
electronics items. And among the leaders are
Apple (AAPL) products. Even though
holiday online shopping season started better than
it was expected, Apple products sold
results are not as well as it was last year.
According to the Amazon's top items rating three of the top 10 bestselling electronics items - and 10 of the top 25 - were made by Apple. Still Apple dropped some of its leading positions. In fact by the end of the holiday shopping season last year, it had 5 items of the top 10.
According to Kaufman Bros. analyst Shaw Wu, Apple could get better results on selling products online if it cut the prices more steeply. Also discounts at the Apple store this year were about the same with 2007, but the price among Apple's resellers was more aggressive.
However, the Apple's Black Friday bestsellers look rather good comparing to other online products companies.
For example, the iPod Touch was Amazon's No. 1 best-selling electronics item Black Friday morning but it lost its leading positions and dropped to No.4 after the Kindle reader, a Canon (CAJ) Powershot camera and a Garmin (GRMN) GPS navigator.
In general most experts didn't expect that this year's Black Friday Sales would be so surprisingly well. Sales at U.S. retailers the day after Thanksgiving come in at $ 10.6 billion. This online retailing result is 3% higher than lost year, ShopperTrak RCT Corp. noted.
Other survey held by Amazon, eBay also confirmed that online sales were rather strong.
As the PayPal's report shows nearly 34% more transactions this year compared with Black Friday 2007. PayPal reflected a 12% overall rise in the U.S. e-commerce for 2008.
