LibertyReserve payment processor: hot questions and obvious answers

September 25, 2008 - 5:32pm | author: ayny | |

Since the moment it became clear that e-gold is no longer a leader and that it will never be the same again the Internet community started seeking for the processor that can replace e-gold. The search didn’t last long and some people say that today LibertyReserve is a really good payment processor but for some “butS” and “howeverS”…

Launched in 2002 slowly but surely this processor started climbing the tops of the e-payment markets. If we look at the graph on alexa.com we will see that the peak of popularity of LR concurs with the time when it was announced about the bankruptcy of e-gold, and later about the court where the owners of e-gold pleaded guilty in illegal money transactions. Also one cannot fail to notice that as the popularity of e-gold decreases, the popularity of libertyreserve, on the contrary, increases.

Today Liberty Reserve is one of the most demanded payment processor. It is accepted everywhere and by everyone, especially by hyips which have a lot to do with any payment system. One may say: it is a success! However…

If we look through the discussions on forums we will see that not everything works smoothly. The users constantly complain that they fail to use LR for some reason and ask for help, suggestions and just for the confirmation or sympathy.

Let’s review the most popular discussions around LR and try to analyze which of them are true and false.

“I cannot open LR site!!!”

Many people all the time complain that they fail to open the page of the processor. Very often the forum users blame the browsers for those failures and advise to change them for some better one (the names vary). We decided to check this “legend” and to see everything ourselves. Having used all the popular and less popular web-browsers we found that libertyreserve.com is supports ALL the browsers and the choice of the latter doesn’t influence the opening of the site. However with some browsers there were some troubles and we had to refresh the pages. After some “consideration” the site opened but still LibertyReserve should think over this trouble as this problem really exists.

Here we should mention the DDoS attacks that are a real scourge for LibertyReserve. Last year and the beginning of this year were marked with the continuous DDoS attacks on libertyreserve. There were lots of discussions in the threads concerning such attacks on LR however we should admit that LibertyReserve has a good credit as nobody called it a scam and waited for the site comeback. There are no official statements from LR blaming some rivals or the individuals so we cannot say the originator of those DDoS attacks. We should have to hand LR, they didn’t waste their time for any investigations and public blames like the other processor do but set to installation of new equipment. May be we noticed but there were no serious DDoS attacks lately, just some temporarily and short outages that could be caused by the new equipment installed but not adjusted well. By the way, all ddos attacks and technical maintenances are covered on the official blog of the payment system. However not all the users read that blog and start to panic, so we think that it would be better if LR e-mailed its announcements.

“I cannot open my LR account!”

This is the second popular question asked on the forums. Some users say that they cannot make some payments or conduct transactions. We have addressed several exchangers as the regular users of LR service and they have confirmed that they have NEVER faced such problems except the cases when the site was down. So, if such problem occurs that can be caused by some technical problems on your computer or some troubles with your Internet connection, or the problems could be due to the newly installed equipment. Perhaps, the equipment has not been adjusted properly that’s why lots of users suffer from this problem. And in any case you should just to refresh your page. If you failed again then you should contact the support team to find out the reason.

“I can’t contact LR support”

Actually here we also should agree that Customer service of LibertyReserve is not “the difference” as it was said on the site. We tried to reach the support team in Live Chat however we failed as it was always offline. Having sent a ticket to support service we also failed to get a quick response though we were notified that it could take some time, even days to get a reply, however we had a hope…

“LR is not secure”, I’ve got my LR account hacked“, “I’ve got funds stolen from my LR account” and etc.

There are lots of the questions similar to that ones implicating the loss of the funds from the account. Here we should admit that such problems occur very often however not due to LR but the users. Starting from the sign up procedure one can see the level of security of LibertyReserve. One can find all those keys and codes annoying, however nobody will refuse that it is almost impossible to get into such account unless the user provides all the data by his or her own. Also one should admit that 15 minutes are insufficient for the fraudster to hack the account but enough for the user to make the necessary operations within the account.

Also we should note that Liberty Reserve sometimes becomes a victim of its own popularity. Trying to conquer new and new markets the system went through the frequent phishing attacks and hence every person who signed up in LibertyReserve should have been ready to become a target for the phisher, as well as all other users.

Here it is necessary to mention all those fake e-mails usually sent to the users. Actually the system isn’t responsible for the cases when the users lose their funds due to their trustworthiness. And here the matter concerns not only LibertyReserve but all the users conducting money operations online.

“I cannot make a payment/withdrawal”
Many users complain that they cannot conduct some operations within their account. Actually all the cases are individual and no one can answer better than LR itself. So here the best advice is to contact LR support team and may be, if succeeded you will get the answer to this question. However mostly this happens because LR suspends the accounts and one can recover his or her account only after contacting the notorious support service. May the Lord help you in this!

So, here we have covered the most popular question concerning LibertyReserve. Lately we sent a request to LibertyReserve to grant us an interview however they still keep mum. We hope that finally they will agree and we will be able to cover all the questions you want to be answered. Anyway, we welcome any questions from you addressed to Liberty Reserve payment system and we will do our best to get the reply to them as soon as it possible.
