Xiaomi Mi A2 launches today in India

The very popular budget Xiaomi smartphone has been amongst the top selling smartphones across price brackets, both globally and in India, since its launch in China in October previous year. The 6 GB RAM/128 GB storage was also launched, but the smartphone will be coming soon and the price hasn't been announced as of yet. It is the successor to the Mi A1 smartphone launched in 2017. The rear camera of the phone also has a dual-tone LED flash. Also, the phone has a curved back which means that it will provide a more comfortable hold for the users. Honor Play has a 4GB RAM & 6GB RAM.

In term of design language, the Mi A2 has the older Mi A1 aluminium unibody design with a sturdy metal finish.

Xiaomi has included a lot of new features in the MIUI 10 ROM like support for displays with 18:9, 19:9, and 16:9 aspect ratios, navigational gestures, support for progressive web apps, and much more. The phone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC and runs on Android 8.1 Oreo OS.

Xiaomi Mi A2 comes in a single variant for now with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The devices include the Xiaomi Mi 4, Redmi Note 3, Redmi 3S, Redmi 3X, Redmi Pro, Redmi Note 4, Redmi Note 4X, Redmi 4, and Redmi 4A. On the top, the company is also offering 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.

The primary shooter on the rear is a 12MP Sony IMX486 with f/1.75 aperture and 1.25-micron pixels, and the secondary shooter is a 20MP Sony IMX376 sensor with f/1.75 aperture and a 2-micron 4-in-1 Super Pixel size. The selfie camera is capable of DSLR-like shallow depth-of-field.

On paper, Xiaomi Mi A2 holds a 12 MP and 20 MP dual camera setup, both having a f/1.8 aperture. The AI cameras powered by the processor's NPU are capable of detecting 22 different scenes from 500 different scenarios. As you can see from the camera samples, the Mi A2 may well be the best camera smartphone under Rs 20,000 in India. It supports Quick Charge 4+ standard, but you'll have to buy a supported charger separately.

It is backed by a 3,010mAh non-removable battery and comes with a 5V/2A power adapter. Being part of Google's Android One, it runs on stock Android 8.1.0 out-of-the-box. Another striking thing about the new Mi A2 is that it does not come with a headphone jack.

First sale of the Mi A2 starts at 12 noon, 16th August, 2018 on mi.com, Amazon India, and Mi Home stores.
