Maurizio Sarri Provides Update On Thibaut Courtois

Chelsea winger Pedro has signed a one-year contract extension with the club, it has been announced today. "(If) I want to stay here for 10 years, then I have to win", the head coach said.

FA Cup winners Chelsea finished fifth, 30 points behind champions City, in the Premier League last season.

"It is important for me to continue with Chelsea".

"We need Jorginho more than City", said Sarri, with a mischievous smile, on the eve of today's Community Shield meeting with City.

Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester United are mooted to be suitors, but Willian insisted he was happy at Stamford Bridge.

"I'm very happy with David, for his attitude".

"I talk with the club about the market but only one or maybe two times, not more".

"I think it's very important to start with a trophy", Sarri added.

However, the 31-year-old fell out of favour with Conte last season after a disagreement over tactics and also struggled with injury for much of the campaign.

"In this moment it's a very hard match", Sarri said.

Speaking to the club's official website, Nigerian global Moses said that his teammates are excited about adapting to Sarri's fresh style of play.

Maurizio Sarri commented on the situation in his press conference ahead of Chelsea's clash with Manchester City at Wembley on Sunday.

"We are not at the top level now but we have to try to have a good performance and result". 'It depends especially on him I think.

"I spoke yesterday with him about him being late, not his future", Sarri told a news conference on Friday. Since being appointed as Antonio Conte's successor at Stamford Bridge this summer, Sarri has yet to work with Courtois and five other players given extended breaks after the World Cup, including Eden Hazard and N'Golo Kanté.
