Elderly German Men Escape From Nursing Home To Attend Metal Festival

Think you're too old for moshing?

Two elderly men in Germany have reportedly escaped from the nursing home where they resided in order to high-tail it across town to attend a giant metal festival over the weekend. Since 1990, thousands of people from around the globe have traveled to the small village in Northern Germany to rage and mosh and headbang.

'The care home quickly organized a return transport after police picked them up'.

"They obviously liked the heavy metal festival", Merle Neufeld, a police spokesman, told Norddeutscher Rundfunk radio, adding that they were "disoriented and dazed".

They were ushered into a taxi, which was given a police escort back to the nursing home.

Rock on, gentlemen. Rock on.

Wacken Open Air, aka W:O:A, is a four-day heavy metal festival held every year, usually near the beginning of August.

From now on it looks like these two pensioners will have to keep their headbanging antics inside the nursing home. This year's event, which sold out, featured headline acts Danzig, Judas Priest, Hatebreed and In Flames. Authorities later located the senior headbangers at 3 a.m.at the festival, and the two golden-aged metalheads apparently were reluctant to leave. It is a huge festival dedicated to heavy metal music and is going into its 29th year.
