Willian apologises to fans for Brazil's loss to Belgium

A Fernandinho own goal and Kevin De Bruyne's fine strike helped Belgium to a 2-1 win in Kazan, where substitute Renato Augusto's second-half header gave Tite's men hope.

Eden Hazard was constantly giving Brazil problems.

After falling behind to Fernandinho's own goal 13 minutes in, A Seleção were caught cold by Belgium's precise planning.

Up next for Belgium in the last four is Didier Deschamps' France, and De Bruyne is ready to grasp a rare opportunity for his country.

"We feel bad because Belgium played well". But when the team goes on the attack, it does so in a way that it can't be caught off guard defensively.

Midfielder Willian added: "Our defence begins in attack". Belgium won the first ever game between eh two sides, back in 1963, but Brazil have had the upper hand in the following three meetings. Football's getting tougher and tougher all the time.

Belgium will now face France, who beat Uruguay 2-0 earlier in the day, in the semifinal in St Petersburg on Tuesday to earn a place in the World Cup final. Not one player in a red shirt was anywhere near him.

"You have to find solutions, you have to find reaction but what you have to find more than anything is the desire and togetherness of a group of players, that they are desperate to perform", Martinez said.

And despite Brazil's finish in the 2018 World Cup falling well-short of expectations, the manager admitted he still appreciated what was, according to many, the match of the tournament so far.

The World Cup favorites tripled Belgium's shot total (27 to 9), put nine shots on target and held 60 percent of the possession throughout the game.

Independent: "In a tournament full of shocks this could be another". The result is too bad for the national team.

De Bruyne then completed a counterattack launched by Lukaku to double the lead in the 31st minute.

Brazil - down 2-0 and trailing for the first time in Russian Federation - seemed to sense the urgency of the situation and poured forward.

The Daily Telegraph: "There's more stars in this one than an arctic sky".

Brazil have been handed a major boost ahead of their Last 8 clash vs Belgium.

"You have got to do something special to stop this Brazilian side, and Belgium made tactical changes with four at the back", Nevin told BBC Radio 5 live.

Neymar's antics were condemned by Mexico's coach. Brazil to go through 3-1 and move closer to that sixth world title.

Danilo played in Brazil's opener against Switzerland but missed the matches against Costa Rica and Serbia because of a right hip injury sustained in training.
