Why Queen Elizabeth II Is Missing Prince Louis' Christening

Why Queen Elizabeth II Is Missing Prince Louis' Christening

Prince George and Princess Charlotte entered holding their father Prince William, 36, hands, while their mother, Kate Middleton followed behind holding Prince Louis in her arms.

As usual, the christening was an intimate affair.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, left the chapel alongside the family.

Her brother Adam Middleton is also a royal godparent, as he is a godfather to princess Charlotte.

It is the first time the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their three children have been seen together as a family of five. Prince William wore a sharp blue suit and was hand-in-hand with George and Charlotte who wore a white short set and blue and white printed dress respectively.

Going with past tradition, the Duchess wore one of her tried and true designer's Alexander McQueen.

The six godparents and their spouses were also due to attend.

And finally, Middleton, is, as you'd expect, is a cousin of Kate's.

"Guests will be served slices of christening cake, which is a tier taken from The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's wedding cake".

But it was largely hidden behind Prince Louis' christening gown. The christening photo will be released in coming days, the palace said.

Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, the spiritual leader of the world's Anglicans, will lead the service in the Chapel Royal at St James's Palace.

They may be Royals, but at the end of the day Prince George and Princess Charlotte are just children - as they demonstrated today.

While some have interpreted Charlotte's post-christening comment as a cheeky reminder to the photographers of her status as a royal insider, I think perhaps she just wants to make sure they know not to hustle over to Clarence House for the reception.

It was a family affair for the Middletons, who all stepped out on Monday afternoon to celebrate Prince Louis' christening.

The christening took place at St. Jame's Palace in London on July 9. Prince William was by Kate's side, supportive as ever.

The happy couple were also joined by Wills and Kate who strode in alongside them.

But the heirs refuse to let the pressure of palace life affect the next generation of royals.

Thankfully for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, their youngest son, Prince Louis, was very well behaved during his eagerly anticipated christening, and the 11-week-old stayed fast asleep as his mum carried him into the chapel. It was hand-made in 2008 by Angela Kelly, the Dressmaker to the Queen. Her icy mint coat is the same style she wore to the royal wedding on May 19, albeit in a different color. The replica gown was first worn by James, Viscount Severn.
