Vinnie Jones had some very harsh things to say about Raheem Sterling

Sterling's pace and willingness to run at opposition defences has been a major part of England's attacking threat, but his timid finishing has frustrated some fans.

He might divide fans at home but Croatia coach Zlatko Dalic picked out Raheem Sterling as one of England's most risky players ahead of Wednesday's World Cup semi-final.

Despite Sterling's fine display on Saturday, he has come under fire in some quarters for an inability to finish chances in an England shirt but clubmate Kyle Walker defended the 23-year-old.

Croatia's shoot-out victory over Russian Federation was their second straight win on penalties at the World Cup, having beaten Denmark in the same fashion in the last-16, and Dalic admitted that playing 120 minutes twice in the last six days was not ideal, particularly as some of his players are now carrying injuries.

"After the Iceland game, we knew that things needed to change", he said.

"Raheem's attitude is fantastic, his work ethic is fantastic as well".

"Until football is finished I will try and stay in as much as I can, watch TV and no one can say nothing".

"We're really happy with where we're at but we believe we can continue this great journey".

Sterling played a key role as Gareth Southgate's men overcame Sweden 2-0 in Samara to set up a semi-final against Croatia - their first since 1990.

"Because if we don't do that, they will definitely punish us".

It starts with Luka Modric in midfield, who is in contention to win the Golden Ball award.

"He is a fantastic player who can create magical moments and I think he has been one of the outstanding performers so far in this World Cup".
