Putin is preparing a deal Trump can tout after summit

Russian Federation president, Vladimir Putin, has congratulated players of the national football and their coaches, after they were eliminated from the 2018 World Cup by Croatia on Saturday night.

Denis Cheryshev's stunning strike got Russian Federation off to a brilliant start after 31 minutes but Andrej Kramaric equalised eight minutes later.

"Our prime minister [Dmitry Medvedev] was in our changing room".

While Putin has watched only Russia's opening 5-0 win over Saudi Arabia, Cherchesov says "he has called me several times, and both before and after the game against Spain".

A senior Kremlin official tells Bloomberg that Vladimir Putin is preparing to offer significant concessions to President Trump at their July 16 summit in Helsinki, Finland in the hopes of beginning to fix strained relations between Russian Federation and the United States. Trump has said the US nuclear capability needs renewing. We've succeeded but I believe we can make further steps forward.

U.S. Ambassador to Russia Jon Huntsman confirmed plans for a one-on-one meeting during a conference call on Thursday, saying Trump will go into the encounter with his "eyes wide open" about Putin's intentions.

The Russians lost only once over 90 or 120 minutes of football and that was in their final group match against Uruguay when they had already qualified for the knockout stage. "You are the best fans in the world!" the team wrote on Twitter.

"Let's not forecast too far ahead". Everyone who has been here for a period of time now has discovered a country that we didn't know.

Russia's expectations were low heading into the World Cup, but Cherchesov feels their efforts have won over the public. "Well done to our guys, they tried very hard.I'm really happy that we made it to the quarters for the first time in [Russia's] history".

He said that while the economic sanctions "don't seem to be having a real terrible economic effect", the measures targeting oligarchs close to Russian President Vladimir Putin appear to be more effective.

The team was ranked 70th in the world by Federation Internationale de Football Association before the World Cup started, making the host nation the lowest ranking side in the event. "We don't want anybody tampering with elections", Trump said.

"As in any other part of the world, you have to start by sitting down at the negotiating table, lay out your concerns and talk about how to resolve them on a mutually acceptable basis", Lavrov told reporters in Moscow.
