Paul Pogba sends message to his doubters after winning the World Cup

Paul Pogba may have been at the heart of France's wild World Cup celebrations but the memory of his late father was never far from his mind.

Alongside the image, a heartfelt caption read.

The shinpad also had a message inscribed on the back, saying: "Oh Lord, do not chastise me for what they say".

Pogba shares a handsome moment with his family.

However, Pogba bounced back in style with an accomplished and mature tournament in Russian Federation and was instrumental in Didier Deschamps' men lifting the trophy on Sunday.

He would not care if he his standing on the pitch at the end of the game, with a world cup medal around his neck and that golden trophy in his hands.

Some might forget but at the age of 25, the Manchester United midfielder has reached a Champions League, Europa League, European Championship and World Cup final in his short but successful career in the game.

While the headlines the next day would focus on Pogba dabbing with the French president, or teasing England fans by singing "football's coming home" on his social media accounts, this was the special moment that was widely missed.

Mendy played no part in the final, and has only featured for 40 minutes in the tournament, all in the second half of France's 0-0 draw with Denmark.

Croatia put up a strong fight on the night but France ran out 4-2 winners to lift the trophy in Moscow and much of it was down to the powerful peformance from Pogba in midfield. "I think he's indisciplined, I think that's the kindest thing I can say about him".

"Happy birthday dear Dad, I feel blessed to be your son", he wrote.
