Liverpool fans pranked by USA comedian Alison Becker over goalkeeper signing

Liverpool have signed the goalkeeper Alisson for a world-record fee of €75mn (£66.9mn), subject to a medical.

This will nearly double the £34.7m Manchester City paid Benfica for Ederson a year ago, a fee which became a world record for a goalkeeper at the time. Liverpool and Roma agreed the final details of the transfer yesterday with the fee, which include €5mn in add-ons, to be paid over two years. "As the negotiations were at an advanced stage, I replied to him straight away saying 'Calm down, I'm on my way!'"

Alisson is Liverpool's fourth summer signing after the arrivals of Naby Keita from RB Leipzig (£52.8mn), Fabinho from Monaco (£40mn) and Xherdan Shaqiri from Stoke City (£13.5mn). "They were quite excited, so we did it".

'We have everything we need for the next season, because I don't think we will do anything more.

'We were not too bad a year ago but we had to improve and we tried that on the transfer market. "It will happen a lot in the next few weeks I guess and that's it, so we are really happy to have him here now".

Liverpool beat Chelsea to the punch but it seems the Blues cooled their interest when they learned that the goalkeeper preferred making a switch to Merseyside as opposed to London. He played with the Seleção at this year's World Cup where his team lost in the quarterfinals.

"How we all do, he needs to adapt to the English Premier League, that's how it is".

"Yes (the atmosphere) in part it did influence the decision", he said. "Economic factors are important for the club too, not just sporting factors". I'm pretty sure of that, ' said Klopp. Roberto Firmino also played a part in convincing his worldwide teammate to join him at Anfield as he praised the city and its people.
