Lewis Hamilton: F1 star to be offered MEGA £250m deal by Mercedes

Lewis Hamilton still rates Silverstone as the greatest circuit in the world, but he has criticised the people responsible for making it the bumpiest track he's experienced in Formula One.

It has been some journey.

"It's going to be the most physical race of the year for me, I think", said Hamilton.

Many of F1's cars do not have enough downforce to remain stable with DRS open through T1, and drivers thus need to deactivate it manually - something that Haas driver Romain Grosjean did too late in FP1, which resulted in a crash. That determination to win and that ambition in a situation is not an easy character trait to deal with. But the important thing is that we had a good Friday, everything we put on the auto seemed to work, and I felt happy with the balance of the vehicle straight away and managed to find a good rhythm from the beginning.

"Obviously, there was an error that happened to us as a team". The super nice, polite guy is not what we want.

'We try to kill their [Mercedes] magic.

He leads fellow four times world champion Lewis Hamilton, victor for the past four years at Silverstone, by a point ahead of the 10th round of the season.

The decision made Hamilton unhappy, telling his crew that they have thrown away the win.

McLaren ended a three-year partnership with Honda in 2017 but has also under-performed with the same Renault engines that have taken Red Bull to three victories in nine races.

The season will likely be decided by tiny margins and the relationship between team and driver is going to be vital. A trait he has displayed since he was racing for Frédéric Vasseur's ART team in GP2 in 2006.

"It's annoying and frustrating, but we still got some good data from Daniel's vehicle". "He still does the same today", Wolff said. "I hope we pull through".

Hamilton said: "Just engaging with the fans here is electric and I want to do them proud in the race".

"As the years go on, you appreciate the support more and more", he said. It's so exciting. I've booked my day off for next Sunday. It means he has yet to set a quick lap on soft tyres after completing all of his morning running on the medium tyres before a gearbox issue cut that session short.

Vettel was penalised for impeding Carlos Sainz during the second part of qualifying at the Red Bull Ring, dropping him to sixth on the grid even though no damage was done and both drivers progressed to the third and final qualifying session.

Hamilton's Finnish teammate Valtteri Bottas, with a new engine in his auto after last weekend's mechanical retirement in Austria, was second and third fastest respectively in the two sessions. Mercedes had expected to be strong and the thinner tread on the tyres being used this weekend certainly suits their cars.
