Federer Has "Dream" To Visit Wimbledon Fans In Queue

Federer Has

Two days after creating a stir at Wimbledon with his new mega-bucks clothing deal, Federer was back making a style statement with his dazzling tennis as he gave Lacko a 6-4 6-4 6-1 dressing down to reach the third round on Wednesday. "I felt good out there and had less nerves than in the first round", he told BBC Sport. "I haven't had any problems yet".

Seventh seed Karolina Pliskova came back from a set down to beat Romania's Mihaela Buzarnescu 3-6 7-6 (3) 6-1 in the third round.

He won 35 straight service points in his second round match against Lukas Lacko and at one point, each of Fed's service games was averaging little more than a minute.

Play was never able to resume on the outside courts as intermittent rain fell from just before 7 p.m., leaving a number of other matches incomplete, including the match between ninth-seeded American John Isner and Belgium's Ruben Bemelmans, which was in the fifth set with Isner trailing 6-1, 6-4, 7-6 (8), 7-6 (7), 4-3.

Victory for the towering Argentine meant that he matched compatriot David Nalbandian's tally of 19 Wimbledon match victories and 86 grand-slam match wins.

Serena Williams progressed into the third round with a dominant straight-set win over Bulgaria's Viktoriya Tomova. This is only the fourth tournament of her return after giving birth last September.

Federer will next face French 22nd seed Adrian Mannarino, who edged past Russian Daniil Medvedev 6-4 6-3 4-6 5-7 6-3.

"Serena", Rodina said, "is my idol". "He makes it look easy, he has so many options, so as he gets older maybe if he loses half a step, it doesn't change how he plays".

Plenty do whatever they can to try to beat her, knowing it'll usually take something special to do that.

"Novak and Rafa, all these guys are still in the draw", Federer said.

A key tactical shift is that Federer is mixing things up very well in comparison to Halle and Stuttgart, where he was more prone to hitting flat or topspin shots.

Agassi, a victor of eight grand slam titles in a stellar career, is at a loss to explain Federer's incredible achievements. "I may have to adjust my game in the third round, for a completely different player".

"Of course, you have to play the percentages, but if you do that too much it becomes boring - so I like to mix it up".

"That's what makes me great: I always play everyone at their greatest, so I have to be greater". Williams had only played three tournaments before this one since becoming a mother, but the seven-time champion played as if she were nearly annoyed she wasn't considered the favorite this year.
