Clearly, the scooter is now out of commission, and the accident could have been a deadly one, but amazingly, it appears that the 57-year-old Oscar victor is doing fine. "It's good to be alive", Clooney said.

He told his friend, CNN contributor John Avlon, that he was going 65 miles per hour when the other driver cut in front of him, hitting him head-on. It shows a blue Mercedes veering into oncoming traffic apparently to turn into a residential compound near Olbia. A figure appearing to be Clooney is thrown over the front of his bike and up in the air before landing on the asphalt, where the vehicle driver and other witnesses come to help. Clooney was thrown from his scooter and fell onto the windshield of the vehicle.

Clooney is now filming a new series - Catch 22 - based on the classic novel by Joseph Heller.

Giovanni Mannoni, a police commander in Olbia, said the actor did not suffer any serious injuries or break any bones.

AGI reported that Clooney was discharged from hospital later in the morning and advised to rest for a few days. An ambulance came to the scene and brought Clooney to the hospital.

Mannoni said police are looking into the causes of the accident.

Clooney's agent told Sky News, "George Clooney was treated and released from an Olbia hospital".

The Oscar-winner often visits Italy, he owns a home on Lake Como and married his wife Amal Clooney in Venice in 2014. He is recovering at his home and will be fine'.
