Daniel Cormier claims UFC heavyweight championship with KO of Stipe Miocic

Already the UFC's light heavyweight champion, Cormier becomes just the second fighter ever to hold titles in two weight classes simultaneously.

Following his Heavyweight title win on Saturday, Cormier got on the microphone and said he wants to fight Lesnar - who sat in the crowd for the main event. The finish came at the 4:33 mark after Miocic - the longest-reigning champion in UFC heavyweight history - crumpled from the shot. The card is headlined by Stipe Miocic vs Daniel Cormier, as well as co-main event Derrick Lewis vs Francis Ngannous. Cormier connected with a short but vicious right hook on the break, trailed the fallen Miocic to the mat and blasted him with hammerfists until the job was done. Presumably, Cormier will defend his heavyweight championship against Lesnar at some point this year. There have been rumors circulating about whether a Lesnar return to the Octagon is possible, but as we have learned in this insane sport, anything is possible. DC, I'm coming for you, motherfucker, ' Lesnar responded.

The fight pits two of the UFC's most popular world champions head-to-head, in a fascinating battle of champions.

"It's very hard for me to say that cause I think the world of Daniel Cormier, I really do".

Cormier elected to drop to light heavyweight only because his friend Cain Velasquez held the UFC heavyweight belt at the time.

"I'm 39 years old, and I've been second many times", Cormier said.

Stipe Miocic is just trying to win a fight. Paul Heyman has also commented...

The show capped the UFC's annual International Fight Week in early July in its hometown.

This time around the story is that Holloway has been experiencing concussion-like symptoms and it comes after he opted out due to a leg injury in a scheduled title defense against Frankie Edgar at UFC 222. Ngannou, who landed a paltry 11 strikes over three rounds, was thought to be the UFC's next heavyweight force before Miocic dominated him in January. Both fighters were covered in Felder's blood by the final bell. I haven't lost a fight at heavyweight.
