World record ODI score by NZ women

New Zealand women's team produced one of the most dominating displays in ODI cricket as they amassed a staggering 490/4 in 50 overs to break their own record of the highest ODI total ever.

Skipper Suzie Bates scored 151 from 94 balls and Maddy Green posted 121 off 77 balls as their team also passed the England men's mark of 444 in the 47th over.

The highest total in any men's one-day worldwide is England's 444 for three against Pakistan at Trent Bridge, Nottingham, in 2016 while the highest score in any men's senior limited overs or List A match remains Surrey's 496 for four against Gloucestershire at The Oval in 2007, an innings that featured Ali Brown's 176. Post Watkin's dismissal in the 19th over, Maddy Green joined her captain, clobbering the ball all around the park.

Teenage leg-spinner Cara Murray set another unwanted record by conceding 119 runs - the most by any bowler, male or female, in an ODI - during her maximum 10 overs.

Amelia Kerr contributed in piling the misery of the Ireland players by scoring 81 off 71 balls with nine fours and three sixes.

"To set a world-record for men's and women's cricket is pretty special and it's going to take a bit to chase it down", Bates said.

During her knock, Bates also reached 4192 ODI runs, surpassing Debbie Hockley (4064) as New Zealand's all-time leading run-scorer.

"When it happened and came over the loud speaker I did actually have a bit of a moment because you think about the hard work you have done and the people who have helped you get here".

New Zealand hit 64 fours and seven sixes in their 490.

The two teams will face each other on Sunday in the second fixture of the three-match series.
