White House says Trump, Kim to meet at 9am on June 12

It will be the first such dialogue between a sitting U.S. president and a North Korean leader.

The confirmation came a day after a United States delegation visited North Korea for preparatory talks and on June 1, a North Korean official Kim Yong Chol met President Trump at the White House and delivered a letter from Kim Jong Un. "We're going to start a process", Trump said.

After weeks of uncertainty, President Trump called off the summit last week, blaming "open hostility" from North Korea.

The two leaders are scheduled to meet in Singapore on June 12, with analysts expecting Washington to convince Pyongyang to abandon its nuclear program.

U.S. President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un are due to hold their historic meeting in Singapore on Tuesday next week.

Kudlow said the president has no intention of easing sanctions yet.

Kim Chang Son, director of North Korea's state affairs commission secretariat, and Joe Hagin, a deputy White House chief of staff, met at the hotel in late May to work out security and logistics measures. "But as the president said, they were interesting, and we feel like things are continuing to move forward and good progress has been made". "It's not - I never said it goes in one meeting".

President Donald Trump's hawkish national security adviser, John Bolton, infuriated North Korea with a unusual and threatening comment about denuclearization in May, and now he seems excluded from the countries' talks.

Should the USA and the North agree to use the summit to declare an end to the 1950-53 conflict, Moon would have to travel to Singapore to join them.

In a May 25 statement, North Korea's foreign ministry expressed a willingness to continue talks with the Trump administration.
