Donald Trump has told the world it can "sleep well tonight" as he landed back in the USA following his summit with Kim Jong Un.

In the run-up to the meeting, Trump had predicted the two men might strike a nuclear deal or forge a formal end to the Korean War in the course of a single meeting or over several days. "A new world can begin today, one of friendship, respect and goodwill", said the trailer's dramatic voiceover as images of militarization, North Korea, and the United States were spotlighted. "Mr. Trump had said he meant to invite Mr. Kim to visit the White House", writes the Washington Times. Trump now seems to be most upset with France's Emmanuel Macron and Canada's Justin Trudeau, both of whom were slammed by the president and his team over the last few days. Kim, dressed in a dark suit, and Trump, sporting a red tie, talked in a corner of the hotel corridor for a few minutes before they walked along the passage into the meeting room and sat down in front of journalists.

UPDATE: Trump addressed the media after first emerging with Kim from their private meeting. "It is quiet careful for us since things are moving so quickly", said a SPC official.

And he maintained that President Donald Trump's comments about how successful negotiations were with Kim will impact future talks. As they entered, Trump injected some levity to the day's extraordinary events, saying: "Getting a good picture everybody?"

In Seoul, South Korean President Moon Jae-in watched live on television, telling his ministers, he "could hardly sleep last night".

Donald Trump played Kim Jong Un a Hollywood-style video hyping the prospect of peace, which cast Kim as its leading man.

Predicting a tremendous success of the summit, Trump said it was "an honor" to meet with Kim face-to-face and that he would have "a terrific relationship" with the DPRK leader.

"Featuring President Donald Trump and Chairman Kim Jong Un, in a meeting to remake history, to shine in the sun", the narrator says.

Asked by reporters if he would invite him to Washington, Trump said: "Absolutely, I would".
