UFC 225 Weigh-in Results: Yoel Romero Misses Weight for Title Fight

UFC 225 Weigh-in Results: Yoel Romero Misses Weight for Title Fight

Romero was the last fighter to weigh-in Friday, and originally came in one pound over the championship fight limit of 185 pounds.

"I can't disrespect him in that regard even for a second and look past him otherwise I'll lose in that instant".

Romero feels that if he was given that extra hour then he could have made the championship weight and challenged for the title.

The two combatants met at UFC 213 last summer for the interim middleweight belt when Whittaker defeated Romero in a closely contested battle via a unanimous decision. "We want to fight for the title". At this time, it is unclear if he will the fight will proceed and what terms might be negotiated if so.

This marks the second time in a row that Romero has missed weight for a fight.

Romero was the only fighter on the card to miss weight, his second fight in a row as he also missed weight prior to the interim title fight against Luke Rockhold at UFC 221. "Absolutely it's on. (Romero) missed by 0.2 (lbs)", White said on the official weigh-in broadcast. "I don't know why the commission didn't give me two hours". Romero won that bout via a knockout, and although he wasn't awarded a belt, he immediately was given a title shot despite his weight cutting issues.

As previously reported, CM Punk is scheduled to facet Mike Jackson at tonight's UFC 225 event in Punk's hometown of Chicago at the United Center. Sound off in the comment section below.
