Rose McGowan's trial date set for cocaine charge

McGowan pled not guilty to the charge in November but if convicted, she could face up to 10 years in prison.

McGowan, who was indicted Monday, is accused of leaving a wallet with cocaine inside on a plane at Dulles International Airport previous year.

Actress Rose McGowan has been formally charged by grand jury officials in her drug possession case. McGowan has said repeatedly that the drugs may have been planted on her, and are not hers. The 44-year-old claims that she has been set up by disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein and that the cocaine was planted in her wallet.

After McGowan's wallet went missing but before the charges against her were made public, someone sent McGowan a direct message on Instagram that said: "You left your wallet on your Saturday flight with your 2 bags of coke", the Associated Press reported.

In a statement, her attorney, Jose Baez, told the celebrity news site, "Rose steadfastly maintains her innocence".

McGowan has been indicted by a grand jury in her ongoing cocaine possession case.

'These charges would have never been brought if it weren't for her activism as a voice for women everywhere.

In court papers filed in February, her lawyer Jessica Carmichael wrote: "There is simply no point in time at which the evidence places Ms. McGowan and the cocaine together in the same place".

On October 30, McGowan first publicly responded to the existence of the warrant on Twitter.

The Brave author has pled not guilty to the charge, claiming that she had been without the wallet for five hours before getting it back.
