Romelu Lukaku, Eden Hazard, Dries Mertens doubtful for England game

Romelu Lukaku, Eden Hazard, Dries Mertens doubtful for England game

England will await the result of this match with a great deal of interest with their Group G encounter with Panama on Sunday.

In a high tempo game, Lukaku bagged a second consecutive brace, taking him to seven goals in his last four global games, while captain Hazard notched his first goals of the tournament in a dominant performance for the Red Devils.

"They'll be analysing it for sure but again, England are in a good place now where if they get another positive performance against Panama and play well, then we can actually start worrying about what we can do to Belgium".

Belgium will assess the fitness of all three players within the next 48 hours.

Belgium won anyway, with all three goals in a 3-0 win coming in the second half where we saw glimpses of what this side is capable of.

The Tunisians cut the lead when defender Dylan Bronn headed in a goal in the 18th minute, but Belgium weren't done.

Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku on Saturday evening (June 23) struck two goals in the FIFA World Cup 2018 Group-G tie against Tunisia at the Spartak Stadium in Spartak to equal Argentine legend Diego Maradona's 32-year-old record in World Cup finals matches.

Belgium were surging closer to a second, and it didn't take them long to get it as Lukaku steered home a pass from Dries Mertens just before 20 minutes.

Hazard also completed his brace five minutes after the break to make it 4-1 for Belgium, beating the offside trap to round the goalkeeper and slot into an empty net.

Belgium have shown the most complete attacking force at the World Cup, though without yet playing a European or South American team. "We will change our style", said coach Nabil Maaloul prior to the contest.

Hazard left the game in the 68th minute, with Germany's Andre Schurrle and Toni Kroos, who did so in the 7-1 victory over Brazil in the semifinals in 2014, the last two players to score two goals each in a World Cup game.

Belgium moved to the brink of the World Cup knockout rounds on Saturday.
