Quentin Tarantino Recruits Al Pacino for ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’

This will mark Pacino's first collaboration with Tarantino.

Al Pacino is joining the stellar cast of Quentin Tarantino's upcoming film, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which is set at the time of the Manson Family's Tate and LaBianca murders in 1969.

The ensemble cast also will feature Dakota Fanning as Squeaky Fromme, Damian Lewis as Steve McQueen, Emile Hirsch as Jay Sebring, Clifton Collins as Ernesto The Mexican Vaquero, Keith Jefferson as Land Pirate Keith and Nicholas Hammond as director Sam Wanamaker.

The film tells the story of Dalton and his stunt double Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt) who are trying to make it big in Hollywood.

The movie, which Tarantino is writing, directing, and producing, also stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, Burt Reynolds, and Timothy Olyphant.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood will arrive in theaters on August 9, 2019 worldwide.

Their struggles are plentiful as they arrive in a Hollywood they don't recognise anymore.

"Pacino will be playing the character of Marvin Shwarz, the agent of DiCaprio's character, who is a washed-up actor from an era in Hollywood that is quickly fading in the business" rear view mirror.

The film takes place in Los Angeles in the summer of 1969, and is being pitched as a film similar to Pulp Fiction, one of Tarantino's most influential films.

Pacino most recently starred in HBO's film Paterno, and he just wrapped Martin Scorsese's long-gestating crime drama The Irishman. Things get complicated (how, we don't know), when the Manson Family arrives on the doorstep of Dalton's next door neighbor, Sharon Tate (Robbie).
