Putin says Russia not planning to withdraw from Syria yet

What some call a "new cold war" between Russia and the West was also fuelled by Moscow's role in the Syrian civil war and the poisoning of a former Russian double agent, Sergei Skripal, and his daughter, in southern England.

Vladimir Putin says personal relationships with all world leaders are important, but tellingly singled out several politicians with whom he drops official titles.

It is preferable to neutralize them in Syria than wait until they come to Russian Federation with weapons, he said. "They see that Russian Federation has become a competitor to them ... we propose that this is a very mistaken policy". Its start was received more than 2 million questions.

Putin said that US allies in Europe - now engaged in a tariff showdown with the Trump administration - were slowly warming to the message he'd been delivering for years: USA foreign and economic policy was aimed at extending American power at the expense of the rest of the world.

On Thursday he said Russia's gross domestic product is now 1.5% higher than a year ago. He described it as modest but said he is confident that future "growth is guaranteed".

Putin confirmed that Russian Federation is not planning now to withdraw all of its troops from Syria.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that he had warned European countries years ago about the risk of the United States imposing its rules on others, and that they were now paying the price for ignoring him.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has praised his USA counterpart Donald Trump for his "brave and mature" decision to go ahead with meeting with Kim Jong-un. But, he added, "we are not building long-term installations there and if necessary can withdraw our servicemen quite quickly without any material losses".

"We have an interest in an European Union that's united and prosperous, since the European Union is our most important commercial and economic partner", Putin told Austria's ORF television a day before an official visit to Vienna.

Russian Federation launched its operation in Syria in 2015, tipping the war in favor of Syrian President Bashar Assad.

Putin, who easily won re-election in March, has since 2001 used the annual phone-in with citizens to cast himself as a decisive troubleshooter on the home front and a staunch defender of Russia's interests on the world stage.

Adding to that blur were screens in the background that posed apparently unfiltered - and occasionally uncomfortable - questions to the Russian leader.

As writes the edition, the theme of the meeting of Putin and trump was raised during the visit of the President of the Russian Federation in Vienna on 5 June.

When talking about the Korean peninsula, Putin reiterated Russia's stance on its denuclearisation by saying: "We look forward to positive results from the Trump-Kim Singapore summit".

The Russian government says total World Cup costs are around $11 billion, not including some infrastructure spending.

More than 10,000 people have been killed since the conflict began in eastern Ukraine.
