North Korea talks not a one-off: minister

But preparations for the historic June 12 meeting between the United States president and North Korea's leader have been gathering pace, with the White House Tuesday revealing that it will take place on the resort island of Sentosa.

Former Deputy Secretary of State John Negroponte discusses the upcoming summit between President Trump and Kim Jong Un.

The notice, published on the websites of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), said airspace over Singapore will be temporarily restricted for parts of June 11, 12 and 13.

After weeks of uncertainty, President Trump called off the summit last week, blaming "open hostility" from North Korea. "Discussions have been very positive and significant progress has been made", she said, referring to Ambassador Sung Kim.

The possible issuance of the joint document has apparently been discussed during working-level talks that have taken place between USA and North Korean delegates at the border village of the two Koreas to prepare for the Trump-Kim talks.

Speaking to reporters at an Oval Office event on Tuesday, U.S. President Trump said that plans for what will be the first meeting between a serving U.S. president and a North Korean leader, are well on track.

White House spokesperson Sarah Sanders made the announcement during a regular press briefing, adding that significant progress had been made in discussions between US representative and their North Korean counterparts. Russian President Vladimir Putin believes that for the settlement on the Korean Peninsula all the interested countries should develop guarantees of North Korea's security. It will be the first such dialogue between a sitting U.S. president and a North Korean leader.

Rodman has developed a unusual friendship with Kim over the last few years, and he is one of the few American citizens who have made multiple trips to North Korea to meet with the leader.
