Late actress’ son accused of crime spree

He was charged Friday with attempted murder, 2 counts of assault with a deadly weapon, brandishing a knife, battery and criminal threats.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, O'Neal allegedly committed a series of violent crimes in early May.

The police report revealed that one of the five people allegedly assaulted by O'Neal sustained "significant and serious stab wounds and cuts to his face, neck and upper body", while another had a serious stab wound to the left of his body. The police also charged him with possession of drugs including the possession of a smoking device.

The spree came to an end when O'Neal was arrested for armed robbery at a convenience store in Santa Monica on May 8. He matched witnesses' descriptions and security footage of a red-headed male with distinct facial tattoos.

O'Neal, 33, is alleged by police to have gotten into an argument and punched a stranger on the night of May 2.

In the final incident that police attribute to Redmond, he allegedly became belligerent inside a coffee shop and when an employee intervened, police say Redmond pulled out a folding knife and "lunged, jabbed and threatened to harm the employee with the knife". After his arrest, the violent crime spree ended, and Pacific Area robbery detectives found him to strongly match the description of the suspect in all the crimes.

O'Neal has pleaded not guilty to all charges in the May 8 robbery.
