Instagram launches soundtracks for Stories

Instagram Stories, the short-form video-showcasing sideline on social media platform Instagram, now offers its users a library of licensed music. You can search for a specific song, browse by mood, genre or simply go through the popular list of soundtracks presented by Instagram.

Instagram will introduce a number of updates and third-party app integrations to facilitate it's popular feature - Stories. Before starting to record a video, users can swipe the new "Music" option on the camera screen right under the record button.

Instead of playing the songs through their speakers while recording a video, users can include up to 15 seconds of a song in their video and photo posts to their stories.

Another day, another new feature addition to Instagram. Friends and family who view your story will get to hear the song along with the image and the video.

Instagram has also used this announcement to brag about the fact that Stories have reached 400 million daily active users. The novelty is already rolling out on iOS and is said to be on its way to Android "soon". You'll also be able to cycle through an entire song and choose the exact moment you want to add to your Story.

Users will now be able to add a soundtrack to their story, selecting a track from a library of thousands of songs.

The feature is now available only in a few selected countries and Instagram is working towards launching the feature in more countries.
