All eyes on Salah as hopeful Egypt take on Russian Federation

All eyes on Salah as hopeful Egypt take on Russian Federation

Uruguayan striker, Edinson Cavani has revealed why he asked Liverpool ace, Mohamed Salah to swap shirts with him after Uruguay's 2018 World Cup 1-0 win over Egypt last weekend.

And all eyes will be on Salah, who enjoyed a record-breaking season for Liverpool with 42 goals in all competitions.

Egypt, meanwhile, is hoping to bounce back from a heartbreaking 1-0 defeat to Uruguay, when the Pharaohs conceded a set-piece goal in the 89th minute.

Egypt appeared to lack cutting edge without Salah in their side against Uruguay, and although he should be involved from the start this time around, it remains to be seen just how fit he really is.

A win against Hector Cuper's Egypt, who will have the services of a fit-again Mohamed Salah, would confirm their place in the next round.

"I hope he will be fit to play, I m sure he will be able to play".

Many in Egypt have expressed outrage over the celebrity delegation - which includes athletes, journalists, TV presenters, actors, actresses and even a belly dancer - staying at the same hotel as the national football team members.

Russian Federation scored more goals in the first game of the 2018 World Cup than in the whole of the 2014 tournament in Brazil, where they netted just twice in three group matches.

For as poor as Saudi Arabia were in the opening game of the 2018 World Cup, Russia could only beat what was put in front of them and looked pretty impressive in doing so.

"We know how to play against him", Cherchesov stated.

"Credit to the lads, they kept going, kept going to the last second", Kane said. "It is nearly a mental blow for one team and it gives you a lot of breathing space for your first game in the tournament", said coach Roberto Martinez.
