The Holy Spirit changes hearts, Pope says on Pentecost

Juan Carlos Cruz said that in April he spent three days with the Pope and the two talked about his sexuality and how a Chilean priest abused him.

The "Catechism of the Catholic Church" says the "psychological genesis" of same-sex attraction "remains largely unexplained" and that those men and women with "deep-seated homosexual tendencies" do not choose their condition.

"He told me, 'Juan Carlos, that you are gay does not matter". God made you this way and loves you this way, and it doesn't matter to me.

"God loves all his children, however they are; you are a son of God, who accepts you exactly as you are".

"It knows the language of such wisdom of caresses, of silence, of the gaze that knows compassion", he said, explaining that this attitude is also representative of those people who live as part of the Church, knowing that they are "[like] a mother [and] must go along the same path: "a person [who is] gentle, tender, smiling, full of love".

He's commented on homosexuality multiple times - and none of them reflect the traditional Roman Catholic view that homosexuality is "objectively disordered".

Cruz suffered abuse from notorious pedophile and priest Fernando Karadima, who was found guilty by the Vatican in 2011 of abusing dozens of minors over decades.

Previously, Pope Francis reminded Christians at large that they owe gay people an apology for being such massive pieces of shit to them for years and years.

Such teachings were also evident when Pope Francis told reporters in 2013, "Who am I to judge" a homosexual person "who is seeking God, who is of goodwill".

Some have a different interpretation of the Pope's comments. He discussed his sexuality and being abused by a Chilean priest.

According to the report, Cruz was telling Pope Francis about how Chile's bishops allegedly used the fact that he was gay to try and discredit his statements.

"I think people would like to make more of it than they ought", Dr. Gregory Robbins, a professor of Religious Studies at the University of Denver said.

Pope Francis quote on gun control: "If you trust only men you have lost", he said in 2015.

In meeting with Cruz, Francis was attempting to mend some bridges of his own in terms of his handling of the clergy sex abuse crisis in Chile and those who covered it up. "It does not free us from the weight of our problems, but liberates us within so that we can face them". Not to say that it's all the same, but in each case, welcome, accompany, study, discern and integrate. - Pope Francis celebrated the first feast of Mary, Mother of the Church Monday saying that without the emphasis placed on motherhood, the Church would be isolated, composed of no more than "old bachelors". "The one who says who goes to heaven is God". An article in Time brought to light a comment from Francis DeBernardo, executive director of New Ways ministry, "which advocates equality for LGBT Catholics".
