Stan Lee is suing former company for $ 1 billion

Lee, a legend in the entertainment industry who co-created numerous comics characters beloved around the world-including Spider-Man, Iron Man, and the Incredible Hulk, among others-filed a $1 billion suit against the company he co-founded in 2001, POW! Shane Duffy and co-founder Gill Champion didn't disclose the details of the deal. Entertainment, LLC (POW! LLC), which is now owned by Hong Kong-based investment company, Camping International Ltd.

The complaints noted upon death of Lee's wife Joan B. Lee past year that, "Lee at age 94 became the target of various unscrupulous businessmen, sycophant and opportunists who saw a chance to take advantage of Lee's despondent state of mind, kind heart and devotion to his craft", pointing out Duffy and Champion knew about his diagnosis of advanced macular degeneration, which has left Lee unable to read or drive on his own since about 2015.

Lee claims in the suit, which you can read below courtesy of Variety, that the initial deal was presented to him as a non-exclusive right to use his name when in reality it was an exclusive right. In April, the Hollywood Reporter published a notarised document dated 13 February 2018 and purportedly signed by Lee, that contained claims his daughter had been verbally abusive to him.

Stan Lee says he would never have signed over the use of his name - "the most important and prized possession Lee and his family owned his entire life" - and points to the fact he wouldn't let Disney use his name when he signed a million dollar movie deal with them (via TMZ). Now, word has it that Lee is suing POW!

In the suit, Lee alleges that Olivarez managed to convince him to sign a power of attorney to gain control over Lee's assets.
