The new fee structure will come into effect later this year through an update to the App Developer Agreement, which will outline its structure in further detail.

Another edge initiative announced at Build was Custom Vision being able to run on Azure IoT Edge. "Using our new SDK, Windows developers will soon be able to employ drones, AI and machine learning technologies to create intelligent flying robots that will save businesses time and money, and help make drone technology a mainstay in the workplace".

With the demo, the company is also seeking to show that Windows 10 PCs can work as Internet of Things (IoT) devices.

Other IoT Edge updates include the planned launch of a marketplace that will allow Microsoft partners and developers to share and monetize their edge modules, as well as a new certification program for hardware manufacturers to ensure that their devices are compatible with Microsoft's platform. In addition, Microsoft is taking Kubernetes to the edge with AKS for Azure IOT Edge, along with enabling a seamless devops experience with Visual Studio Team Services projects for AKS. Users can also design mixed-reality spaces like room layouts, holograms which can be shared in real-time. Improvements to all three of these areas and products aim to help developers simplify how they build, enhance everyday software, and collaborate in real time.
