Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson Moraes extends contract until 2025

Manchester City have enjoyed a truly spectacular season, winning the Premier League easily and capping it off on the final day of the season with a win against Southampton that made them the first team in history to reach 100 points.

The 24-year-old Ederson joined from Benfica on a six-year deal in the last offseason and has been one of City's key players in its record-breaking title triumph with his shot-stopping and distribution.

City picked up a record 100 points and won more games than any team in a Premier League season with 32.

"I'm delighted to sign my new contract", he told the club's official website.

"I'm sure they're celebrating well tonight".

Ederson has helped manager Pep Guardiola realise his vision of forming a winning side that effectively plays out from the back.

Raheem Sterling of Manchester City shoots but is blocked by Ryan Bertrand of Southampton during the Premier League match between Southampton and Manchester City at St Mary's Stadium on May 13, 2018 in Southampton, England.

That's perhaps no surprise given Guardiola's high-intensity, possession-based style, but it was not a City player who topped the individual charts this season. "We are really looking forward to seeing him develop at City over the coming years".
