Maleficent dragon catches fire during Festival of Fantasy Parade at Magic Kingdom

The dragon, which shoots fire from its nose, is on the Maleficent float.

The Festival of Fantasy is my favorite parade and the Maleficent dragon float is why!

Viewers sent in video to News Channel 8 showing the flames.

The fire was quickly extinguished and the area clear, a Disney World spokesperson told the Orlando Sentinel.

Cast members shooed parade attendees away from the malfunctioning float, which continued to lift its head up and down as its head was engulfed in flames.

"Celebrate the spirit of Disney as Magic Kingdom park comes alive with music and dance during a tribute to the tales of Fantasyland", Disney's Magic Kingdom website description reads. Nobody was injured in the incident, according to Disney World's public affairs department. The dragon is not looking so good now.

Disney officials say they are still trying to figure out what went wrong.

In operation since 2014, the 52-foot long, 25-foot tall Steampunk-inspired dragon famously breaths fire as it strolls through the streets of Magic Kingdom Park. An employee is stationed inside the unit, sitting near the base of the neck.
