Israel prepares for opening of US Embassy in Jerusalem

Last December, U.S. President Donald Trump sparked global outrage when he unilaterally recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital and vowed to relocate Washington's embassy to the city.

Tens of thousands of Palestinians are expected to gather along the border between Gaza and Israel Monday to protest as the USA opens its embassy in Jerusalem. The Palestinians want east Jerusalem as the capital of their future state, and view the relocation of the embassy from Tel Aviv as a blatantly one-sided move that invalidates the a Mideast peace broker. According to the bloc's course, Jerusalem should be the capital of Israel and Palestine in the framework of the envisaged two-state solution to the Middles Eastern crisis.

GAZA CITY, Palestinian Territories: The head of Gaza's Islamist rulers Hamas left for Cairo on Sunday, sources in the movement said, a day before major protests are expected in the enclave over Washington's controversial Jerusalem embassy move.

Several European states, such as Germany, Ireland, Malta, Portugal, Poland, Sweden, have declined the invitation to Sunday's relocation of the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem for technical reasons or due to their stance on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. "I think we're gonna make progress", he told Pirro who is in Jerusalem for the embassy opening. The countries, supporting the two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, including the European Union, as well as Russian Federation, have also slammed the move.

Fifty-four Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire since mass protests broke out along the border on March 30. Friedman confirmed that Trump will "be there on video" at the embassy ceremony and that Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, a senior White House aide, will speak in person.
