Carvalhal assured Swansea will beat Southampton

Swansea City can not let the defeat to Bournemouth derail their Premier League survival hopes and have to respond with a victory against Southampton on Tuesday, manager Carlos Carvalhal said.

The Swans fell from 17th to 18th on Saturday following a 1-0 away defeat to Bournemouth.

Defeat left Carvalhal's side 18th in the standings on 33 points from 36 games.

Carlos Carvalhal's men are now sitting 17th in the table with just two games to play, although only goal difference separates them from their visitors.

"After losing a game like we did at Bournemouth, everyone is sad, of course". This is the main point and the players know about that.

West Bromwich Albion's impressive late rally appears to be too little, too late as if there is a victor in Tuesday's clash between 18th-placed Swansea City and 17th-placed Southampton, both of whom have 33 points, then that would condemn the Baggies to relegation.

Swansea can tale solace from their impressive home form where they have only been beaten in the league by Tottenham and Chelsea in the league since Carvalhal came in at the end of 2017.

Carlos Carvalhal's men spurned chances and their failings in front of goal meant they remained very much in the mire.

'I don't think we're in any way damaged by the consequences of the game in terms of confidence, so we'll be ready to go again and it's up to us to get the job done.

"On Tuesday, we must be at the top of our game".

"Everyone connected with West Brom has to continue like that because we still have an important game against a good team".

'Sometimes he was being too sure, rather than being the natural player he is but I thought he was excellent when he came on, clearly understood what was required of him and when we made the change, that shows he is engaged and focused on what is happening on the pitch. With the support of the fans, we can beat any team.
