Shenmue I & II Receiving Remastered Release on Consoles and PC

The modern platform re-release of the two games will feature both English and Japanese voice-overs, tweaked control schemes, high-definition resolution rendering and various minor changes.

It has been a few years since Shenmue 3 was first funded on Kickstarter, and while news has been slim, we did hear back in January that we should expect a release later this year.

"You've asked, we listened and we're extremely excited to finally announce that Shenmue I & II are coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC in one package!" says Sega via a tweet over the weekend.

Sega is promising that the new "Shenmue" releases will be the "best Shenmue experience to date", but it's not known yet if Sega is upgrading all the graphics of the Dreamcast originals to HD or even higher. Missing an appointment means having to wait to be able to run the next day, but in Shenmue, there is also a time limit and if you do not know how to manage it optimally you could run into the game over.

Gamespot, however, has pointed out that based on Sega's announcement, the "Shenmue" 1 and 2 collection pack is not something that can be considered to be full-on HD remasters of the classic games. The collection will have physical releases for PS4 and Xbox One, with the PC version being digital-only.

The Shenmue games tell a story of intrigue and mystery as Ryo Hazuki searches for answers to his father's murder and to unlock the mysteries of an artifact called the Dragon's Mirror.
