Philadelphia 76ers beat Miami Heat on road, take series lead

When the Philadelphia 76ers lost Game 2 of the National Basketball Association (NBA) first-round play-off series against the Miami Heat on Monday, Joel Embiid took to Instagram to post a profane message.

During the first half of the game, part of Embiid's mask fell off with Heat forward Justise Winslow allegedly stepping on it with intent and breaking the visor portion of the mask.

I told them, when we had a chance [in Game 3], I was like, 'go do the same thing, ' and I saw Ben was pushing and we were trying to score. Winslow grabbed 10 rebounds. The Heat's starting center played only 13 minutes and had five points and two rebounds while battling foul trouble.

Missing the rest of the regular season in the process, Embiid hoped to feature soon after undergoing surgery and clearing the concussion protocol but was rested for Game 2 when a vintage Dwyane Wade performance pegged the series back to 1-1 earlier this week. They continued to play with their newfound offensive discipline, committing just 10 turnovers (Embiid contributed three of them), and they shot 18-of-34 from 3-point range, finally breaking Miami's spirit with a fourth-quarter barrage.

Not only with the Heat beating the Sixers 113-103, but with Goran Dragic adding salt to the wound with a late layup.

It was a high-intensity game, as six different players were awarded technical fouls.

Game 4 is Saturday afternoon.

Nevertheless, Sixers Coach Brett Brown said before Thursday's contest that Embiid would not be on a minutes limit in his first game back, but that the center's level of conditioning could be a factor.

As soon as he stepped on the court, Embiid made an impact instantly upon in his first career playoff game.

Embiid said he was cleared to play after a conversation with the team medical staff and surgeons. 76ers vs Heat tv channel schedule is on TNT.

Joel Embiid is back with a vengence.

LaMarcus Aldridge had a team-best 19 points for the Spurs, who played without head coach Gregg Popovich one day after the death of his wife, Erin, following a long illness. Coach wants me to just be in a corner and set picks. "So it's going to take much more than that to get me out of the series". When he blocked me I didn't really see him. good for him. "I've just got to trust it".

The rest of the squad followed his lead, slowly building a lead as big as 11 before a 12-5 Miami spurt chipped it to just four after the first 12 minutes.

The 76ers again pushed to a double-digit lead, with a pair of Richardson 3-pointers keeping the Heat within striking distance before an Embiid 3-pointer put the 76ers up 117-105 with 4:39 to play.
