New Eagles cornerback tased in ugly arrest

Worley was arrested following an early Sunday morning confrontation with Philadelphia police in which he was tasered into submission after being combative.

Worley reportedly fell asleep behind the wheel of his vehicle while driving on the freeway.

According to Rapoport, Worley was found passed out inside his vehicle, which was blocking a highway. A gun was also recovered during the arrest. Although it looks like the Eagles are planning to hold on to Bennett for the time being, Worley may not be so lucky.

Worley, 23, is a Philadelphia native and graduate of William Penn Charter High School.

The incident reportedly occurred near the Eagles team facility around 6 a.m. ET.

The Eagles confirmed Worley's arrest and said they were "in the process of gathering more information". He had two interceptions and 49 tackles for Carolina last season and was traded to the Eagles last month for wide receiver Torrey Smith.

Of course, every situation is different for a multitude of reasons and the Eagles obviously felt comfortable cutting Worley loose hours after his arrest.

The release will take Worley's $670,000 cap hit off the books for 2018 and won't leave any dead money. He was just the latest young cornerback added to the Eagles' group.
