National Weather Services issues a tornado watch for Nodaway County

"The strongest storms will be capable of large hail and brief tornadoes", the weather service cautions, "especially over eastern counties during the mid-late afternoon".

In addition, our windy conditions will remain in place.

The Storm Prediction Center just before 8 a.m. trimmed back the enhanced risk over parts of north Alabama.

He said the frontal system could arrive as early as Saturday morning. "We'll get kind of that slushy stuff".

Meteorologist Kerry Hanko said this spring blizzard is different from many that occur this time of year. Near-freezing temperatures are forecast in Northwest Arkansas on Saturday morning.

The chance for severe weather increased for much of SC on Sunday morning. The overnight low is expected to be in the 30s.

Here are the areas that have the best chance of seeing a tornado.

Winds topping 50 miles per hour in some spots have been sending trees crashing to the ground and onto house roofs across Michigan, and it may get even windier overnight in West Michigan. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent.

The Williamsburg County watch remains in effect until 11 p.m.

A trace of precipitation (rain and melted snow) was recorded at the airport, keeping the April total at 0.37 inches, 0.94 inches below normal.
