Jrue Holiday produces huge clutch block to seal Pelicans win

The Pelicans will be eliminated as a possible Warriors' opponent if the Thunder win Wednesday night. They shot just 40 percent from the field, compared to a ridiculous 59 percent shooting mark for the Pelicans.

Undeterred, Davis dominated throughout the remainder of the regular season.

For Portland, McCollum had 19 points and Lillard 18, but the normally reliable guards combined to shoot just 13 of 41, including 1 of 15 in the first half. From the opening tip of game one, they have to be locked in, especially in one of the NBA's most hostile environments.

"As far as a 2 way player right now, with Kawhi Leonard not dressed out and playing, I don't know if there's a better 2 way player in the game (than Holiday)", said Pelicans head coach Alvin Gentry.

Looking at the betting trends, the Pelicans are 11-3 ATS in their last 14 road games, 5-0 ATS in their last five games following a win of more than 10 points and 6-0 ATS in their last six games overall. Davis leads in rebounds with 11.0 while Rajon Rondo tops in assists with 8.1. He has been a key part of the Pelicans' continued success in the absence of Cousins and will play a huge role at both ends of the floor in this series.

Wednesday's matchup between the Timberwolves and Nuggets is essentially a play-in game.

The Blazers and Pelicans met four times during the 2017-2018 season. He plays both ends. Davis, at last, gets another chance to show his mettle in the playoffs, and he will handle it with aplomb to average over 30 points, 12 boards, two steals and three blocks over the course of the series. It is not often Lillard shoots 26%, so I definitely anticipate a big bounce back game from the star, plus he has been a solid playoff performer in his career. Big names to have alongside each other.

Portland was just 5-7 to close the year, and with the Blazers expecting to make progress this season - that means at least a trip to the second round of the postseason - this series is a must-win. McCollum hasn't been in great form and will need to lift, while Lillard will have no problems performing to his usual high standards.

But as he went up, Holiday came out of nowhere to produce a sensational block that effectively sealed the win for New Orleans.
