Hulu and Spotify to Offer Subscription Bundle This Summer

Today, Spotify is launching a new bundle in the United States, in collaboration with TV-on-demand service Hulu. The two subscriptions would cost a combined $18 per month if purchased individually.

This model has worked a charm, helping Spotify become the biggest streaming service in the world, with 157 million users (71 million of who fork out for its premium tier). The Limited Commercials plan costs $7.99 on its own. About 60% of USA households stream, and 51% of them get Netflix, 33% get Amazon Prime and 14% get Hulu, according to CNBC's All American Economic Survey.

Spotify and Hulu first combined forces a year ago to offer a discounted streaming package to college students.

Hulu and Spotify have partnered together to create a premium streaming bundle, one that lets you take the best of TV and Music wherever you go.

Simply set up your Spotify subscription through the Sony service, and you can knock ten percent off the monthly fee. The exclusive price of $0.99 will run for three months before upping the charge to a monthly price of $12.99 for the bundle.

It is not possible for a regular user to subscribe to this bundle unless they are a new Hulu subscriber or the one who canceled the service in less than 12 months after subscribing. Once those three months are up, the audio and video streaming combo will only set you back a total of $12.99 a month, down from the usual price of $17.98. Exactly what the updated service will feature is unclear, but reports claim that the free mobile listeners will be able to access their playlists faster and have more control over the songs they hear on top playlists.

Spotify and Hulu revealed a combined music-TV streaming package for students back in September.

Spotify said the student offer was "incredibly well received". Others interested in the awkwardly named Spotify Premium, Now With Hulu service will have to wait until its official launch this summer.
