Fortnite servers are dead, in 'emergency maintenance' mode

Since the game has achieved millions of users in a very short period of time, they have to make a quick move and to fix this issue as soon as possible. Unfortunately, the servers are still down as the moment of writing this article.

'We had a critical failure with one of our account service databases, ' said an announcement on the Fortnite Subreddit.

There are seven different challenges for players to complete, but you only to to complete four of them to get your reward of 4000 XP. It has understandably seen a surge in players since Ninja started streaming it.

It's since provided another update that doesn't sound much more positive: "We're sorry for the ongoing extended instability".

Fortnite Battle Royale is undoubtedly the best free-to-play game available in the gaming world.

Have you been affected by the outage? This is specifically preventing people being able to log into their account. The folks at Epic Games noticed that and they made a decision to shutdown the servers for a couple of hours in order to fix the login issues.

It's worth pointing out that this is, as far as we know, an Epic-wide issue and not one just related to Fortnite, but let's be honest: nobody really cares about anything else. Epic promised to update gamers on an hourly basis.

When will the servers be back up?

The developer tweeted yesterday that it was having trouble with account services and logins for Fortnite.

Epic Games is saying that the reason it chose to shutdown the servers is because it needed to perform "emergency maintenance". The next update was earlier this morning when the company said the Fortnite server is down again.

"Login is now blocked across all Epic endpoints, including games, websites, and the Epic Games Launcher", the company wrote on its status page.
